Moitri Ghosh is an Atlanta-based director/writer drawn to characters caught between two truths that can't be easily resolved: what you owe the people you love, and what you let yourself want. She knows that feeling firsthand: nine moves across four countries before she was eighteen, always the new arrival learning to read a room.
Her short films BY DESIGN, ASHA, and CHOOSE YOU form a trilogy around that tension. BY DESIGN, made with a Tasveer grant supported by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, and ASHA, winner of the NewFest/Concord Sound & Scene grant, have both screened at academy-qualifying festivals.
On set, Moitri brings a decade of large-scale, multi-camera production experience: Agency Producing and Line Producing at Ogilvy NY for IBM, American Express, and Comcast, and Line Producing at MasterClass for Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Marc Jacobs. She directs from that foundation, having co-directed James Beard Award-winner Mashama Bailey's class and directed Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson's.
Shaped by a lifetime between worlds, she directs for what goes unsaid, the object left holding the feeling, the ending left open.
